Downhill in Austria

I just got back from a school trip to Flattach, Austria, about a 13 hour bus trip from Fuerstenwalde. We drove through the night to arrive at a ski in - ski out youth hostel on the slopes.
I was sleeping in a room with seven other girls. The first night three of the girls became violently ill with food poisoning from the salad dressing. The next day one of the girls was taken to the hospital for two days as she had a virus. There were no available cleaning supplies. Not a good start to the trip!
The small ski resort was just over 3,000 m high. I was surprised that I could feel the altitude. My body has completely adjusted to living at sea level.
I skied for 6 days. Most of the snow was artificial and icier than in CO, but everyone was commenting on the wonderful snow conditions. I was considered a "profi" after skiing black runs and going off of a small jump. My highlight was practicing a downhill race course.

I have now been in Germany for about 6 months. It is all downhill from here!
